Siding Damage We Repair

Siding can be damaged by hail, wind, falling debris, moisture, age or impact. In some cases, the problem is limited to a few boards or panels. In others, damage may extend into trim, sheathing or other exterior components.

XCL inspects the affected area first to determine the extent of the damage and the appropriate repair.

Common siding work includes:

  • Cracked, broken or missing siding
  • Loose or damaged siding sections
  • Hardie siding repair and replacement
  • Wood siding repair and replacement
  • Vinyl siding repair and replacement
  • Hail and storm damage
  • Impact damage
  • Deteriorated or rotted siding
  • Damaged exterior trim
  • Localized siding replacement
  • Full siding replacement when needed
  • Caulking and exterior finishing
  • Painting associated with repaired areas

Repairing the Damaged Area

When siding damage is localized, a full replacement may not be necessary. XCL can remove and replace affected boards or sections and address related exterior repairs as part of the same project.

Siding problems can sometimes involve more than the visible surface. If damaged trim, sheathing, fascia, soffit or other exterior components are found around the repair area, we can evaluate those items and include the necessary work in the scope.

For painted siding and trim, XCL can also handle the painting needed to complete the repaired area.

Matching Existing Siding

One of the most common concerns with siding repair is how well the new material will match the existing exterior.

We match the existing siding material, profile and color as closely as reasonably possible. Exact matches are not always available, particularly when siding has been exposed to years of sun and weather or when the original product has been discontinued.

When painting is part of the repair, we work to blend the repaired area with the existing exterior as closely as practical.

Storm and Insurance-Related Siding Repairs

Hail, wind and falling debris can damage siding along with roofing, gutters, fascia, soffit and other exterior components.

XCL can complete siding repairs and replacement associated with insurance-related property damage. When the same event has affected multiple exterior areas, we can address the related approved repairs as part of the overall project.

Siding Repairs From Home Inspections

Damaged or deteriorated siding is also commonly identified during home inspections. Reports may call out cracked siding, loose sections, wood rot, damaged trim, gaps or other exterior conditions that need repair.

Homeowners, buyers, sellers and realtors can send XCL the inspection report. We can evaluate the siding items and determine the appropriate repair, along with other related exterior work when needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you repair only the damaged section of siding?

Yes. When damage is localized and the surrounding siding is in suitable condition, XCL can repair or replace the affected section rather than replacing the entire exterior.

What types of siding does XCL work with?

XCL works with Hardie siding, wood siding and vinyl siding for residential repair and replacement projects.

Will new siding match my existing siding?

We match the existing material, profile and color as closely as reasonably possible. Exact matches may not always be available because of product availability, discontinued materials and normal fading or weathering.

Can you repair wood rot around the siding?

Yes. If the project involves deteriorated trim or other accessible exterior wood components around the siding, XCL can evaluate and include those repairs in the project.

Do you paint siding after a repair?

When painting is needed as part of the siding repair, XCL can include the finishing and painting required for the repaired area.
